Happy New Year

Post by yupraypraylo »

Hi Jim! This is one of my students. He averages 220. Wants to take it to the next level. Personally, I believe getting him closer to the foul line is the first of many adjustments required. Your input is appreciated, as always. Please give us one to two things to work on, get ingrained, and we will be back for more. I have several angles at your disposal. Be well, and thank you so much!

First of all sorry for the long response time. January’s are always busy as there are 3 collegiate tournaments within a 100-mile radius of home that I attend every year to see some of my collegiate players in action.

Two items to work on:
1) Address position
2) Movement down from the top of the swing

Address position…..side view (S1).
1) Set-up is too upright

Correction:
2) Need some flex in the knees
3) Need spine tilted forward slightly
4) See attachment

Address position…….back view (B1)
1) Set-up is too upright

Correction:
1) Add lateral spine tilt (see attachment)

Movement down from top of the swing (S5)
1) Currently as the swing starts down, too much weight remains back on the right foot.
2) This results in a huge separation between the feet
3) Keeping the weight back on the right foot also results in the over-tilting of the upper body.
4) The over-tilting is necessary in order to maintain a sense of balance.

Correction:
1) As the swing starts down keep the right knee moving forward and downward
2) Keep the head and upper body back, should be easier if he keeps that right knee moving forward.

As for his distance from the foul line...move him up 6 inches.

Work on these couple of items and re-post video.
