Thank you for your comments. I learned a lot reading previous posts. My main purpose for starting so far back was to get a longer slide, can get a little longer slide by pushing off harder but end up leading with my right shoulder. I have never tried closing my eyes yet.

Bill with a few minor tweaks you could be the poster child for what I refer to as The Swing & Slide Drill.
I can't tell if your hair is blond or grey.

Basically you need to move up on the approach.
Lower your left arm at address
Moving up on the approach should enable you release the ball more into the lane.

This drill allows us to isolate many elements of the physical game.

Great job!

Jim, thanks for the annotated graphics.
Good note book material.
Poster board bowler's are excellent learning/teaching tools.

Question, if Bill closed his eyes would this improve the timing of Bill's release. I ask this because you mentioned the distance from the foul line, indicating the mind kicking in to accomplish the objective.
So aside from that, all mechanics are good and system ok?

Always appreciative of your style and explanation of cause and effect.

Just my opinion, but I think you'd make a great mentor and groomer of would be coaches.
To grow the sport we need more teachers like yourself.

Thanks for giving us all the opportunity to learn and to grow.

Be well.

If he let go of the ball earlier it would be rolling down the approach for a foot or two before crossing the foul line.

He understands the drill and knows he supposed to release the ball into the lane.

If not he should back up and start with the Foul Line Drill, where we teach the athlete to keep their eyes on the hand through out the swing and relese.

Moving up will allow him to release the ball into the lane. mho

No doubting here, just saying his seeing the foul line so far away, made his body override his known objective. Sort of an involuntary reflex ...

No doubt when he moves up, things will improve.

Thanks again.
