Just got my first videos of my shot, and I think I need some help with the pushaway. It looks really awkward, but I don't know how else to do it, and give myself enough time to get to the line...

Strike shot, leaving the 10

Missed spare shot

Just to get the ball rolling ...
Some, observations and opinions until more expertise responds.

I know Jim and others will have better and more concise advice.
As I said, this is just to draw attention, I'm just the caboose on this train.

Footwork and ball placement are kingpins.

Get the dance step cadence Del Warren describes ...
The Kegel Teen masters drills on the wiki will serve as a good model. As with many drills, it helps to first start without the ball.
Note the swing slot and head over ball mantra.

I'd also advise considering a 5 step or Mo's shift bowl method
http://wiki.bowlingchat.net/wiki/index. ... _Technique

This video is very nicely done. It also points out why both side and rear views are needed.
The author documents the technique and rationale.

Your first step appears to long.
Your right foot is pointing to the right a lot (your left foot straight head) perhaps because your are crossing over your left foot too much and losing balance, try just stepping in front, like a balance beam. That crossover may be upsetting your balance. (Feet go where they are needed, Bill Taylor)
Your steps appear to be all at the same cadence and similar in size, this hampers momentum, you should be accelerating.
Step 1 slowest and smallest (side views tell more)
Step 2 balance beam step faster than step 1, compare the orientation of your left foot with your right foot.
Step 3 quickest and shortest this helps launch you into the slide.
Step 4 the slide

Left arm is out to the side (60's style) left arm should lead at first, like when you throw a baseball, this helps open shoulders and hips, which helps clear swing slot and lengthen swing which adds ball speed.

Hand gets to outside of ball too soon, this widens gap between slide foot and ball and messed with your balance, the further away the weight is, the more of a mechanical disadvantage you are.

A non bowling set of exercises that deal with balance

I hope this is helpful.

Stay tuned for better responses ...
