Sweaty hands

Post by Ekim » February 28th, 2014, 11:20 pm

Does anyone have any cure for keeping hands dry. Mine sweat very bad. I have tried a wet rag rubbing alchol rosin etc.. Any suggestions would be gtreatly appreciated. Years ago there was a product called Green Stuff that so far is the only thing that has worked the best.

Some bowlers spray their hands with antipersperant. You can help keep your body temperature down by sucking on ice from ice water. -- JohnP

The biggest problem with moist hands is not being able to hold the ball as long as you would like. Many years ago Bill Taylor provided advise about modifying the forward/reverse pitches to ensure the ball slayed on the hand until the correct time. Get to a pro shop that is familiar with Bill Taylor's guidelines and experiment with changing the pitches. Taylor had guidelines for dry and moist hands but what you describe may be outside the Taylor recommendations.

The other problem with moist hands is if you are bowling in a place where everyone likes to give a high 5. If the other bowlers don't hi-5 you it may be that they simply don't want to change the level of moisture on their own hands. It is not be taken personally.

My hands sweat more than anyone i know.

What I do is constantly hold one of those microfiber grip sacks (mine is a hammer) and when I get up to bowl, I wipe my hand over a microfiber towel.

With me it had nothing to do with temp. I have the same problem shooting pool as well. I have to wear a silk type glove on my hand or my cue will stick to my hand.

Here are a few things that might work.. Some may work better than others. Don't want something too tacky for bowling, but with your sweat and product tack, you may find the right combination.

I just use a homemade "grip bag" that has cat litter in it...and I replace the litter every year...works well at keeping my hand very dry
Hand: Left
Speed: 17 at release
Revs: 325
Rotation: 40°
Tilt: 25°
PAP: 3-1/2 over, 1/4 up

I have this problem, especially at my current house I bowl league in. Their HVAC system must not be cutting it. My hand always swells and gets tacky there. I don't have the problem elsewhere, which is only one of the many reasons I am done with this center after this season. But, for now, I use a Columbia 300 micro fiber grip sack. I've tried many, and this one works the best. No residue at all. But, it is a real pain not being comfortable and confident with one's release. If you're like me and it's only a real issue in one particular house....go somewhere else...it's just not worth the aggravation.
