Positive Affirmation Brainstorm/Activity

Post by Jeremy »

The mental game is a hot topic these days. Chances are most of you employ mental skills, such as positive affirmations, to help you with your game.

Positive affirmations are positively charged statements about yourself and your game that are likely to increase an athlete's confidence and can be used to help athletes stay on task. These statements are generally used in the "I" form, where the athlete will state "I..." then add in a positive aspect about themselves and/or their game. For example, one can use an affirmation that says, "I have solid balance."

I would like to play a "game", or start a brainstorm list of sorts, using positive affirmations. There are thousands we can come up with. Let's come up with 50 by the end of July 2010 and give it a shot. If we come up with more, then great.

The goal of this activity is for you to come up with your own positive affirmations about yourself and your game, and to help others by sharing your own affirmations. Feel free to be creative in your statements, and it is preferred that we all us "I" statements.

I will go first:

1. I am focused on my task.
