diffrent Fingeraction???

Post by Nsane »

When i watch my Playingfingers i see that on the middlefinger the callus is much more than on the ringfinger. I think the most time i play predominant with the middlefinger.
Now my question:
is maybe my ringfingerspan bit too short or have it probably an other reason?

Possibly your middle finger could be to long. your play finger should be your ring.its the last finger out of your ball for the most reaction.

Probably more of a fitting issue with the callous. Check your initial axis rotation and axis tilt to determine which finger is dominant.

The more dominant the middle finger, the more initial axis rotation and tilt. The more dominant the ring finger, the less initial axis rotation and tilt. That's a basis for performance fitting. The more we emphasize the middle finger, the more the initial axis rotation and tilt. The more we emphasize the ring finger, the less the initial axis rotation and tilt. These adjustments are done after we assess the player's God given physiology. Good question.

How does one emphasize and de-emphasize one finger or the other?

Another related (I think) question: What determines the angle of the track, ie., the vertical component of the PAP. For example three PAP's, (1) 5" over, 1 1/2" up, (2) 5" over, 0 vertical, (3) 5" over 1 1/2" down. What in the player's release causes the different track angle that results in these PAP's? -- JohnP

No solid analysis, but thumb pressure has a lot to do with it. As I delay the thumb exit during performance fitting, the vertical component of the PAP seems to increase. Think of the vertical component of a full roller's PAP. The full roller release keeps the thumb in the ball the longest.

Possible, my thumb exits fairly early and my PAP is almost straight across. But you didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to answer! -- JohnP
