Are Fall leagues possible (and what is the limit?)

Post by krava »

We just got done with a 8-9 week summer league here. They had people bowling M-F and 2 people teams. Could there be 4-5 people teams? if so limit the number? How do they come up with how many people can be in the place and also do they have to be spaced a certain way? The bowling alley I am at already has the list of fall leagues up but saying (to be revised). At first we had to wear mask but can pull them down when we got up on the lane. Now they had us wear it the entire time.

Anyone else have info on fall leagues at their center? Under "normal" situation, leagues suppose to start in 2 weeks.

If it was me running this, if it was possible, I would try to see if I could stay with 2 people per lane idea because you have to limit the number of people in that area. But make it probably a 4 person team. 1/2 the team bowls lets say 5:30-7:30 The other half bowl 7:30-9:30 or something. No reoiling the lane though because that gets expensive. If people want they could alternate Shift 1 with Shift 2 or something. I just don't see 30 4 person teams in one area right now.

Whatever your state allows. NY opens Monday and it’s 50% capacity skipping a pair in between. See how it goes

I just got a call from the manager there. They are doing the leagues now. It depends on which night it is. I think they are still staying with 4 people per pair. THey are also going to do the shift thing I said for leagues that had more people in it. Leagues are looking at 6:15 shift and 8:15 shift here.

I liked the two person team format. We did it at ASU so we could run lunch time leagues (2 games).
Conceivably, the house could have a two squad schedule and get four person lineage and food and beverage revenue.
That might help centers and the bowling community.

Stay safe, bowl well, enjoy.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.

That is not the state mandate.
It is masks at all times, 50% capacity and every other LANE.

We’re doing a pair per team in Ohio. No masks required, unless you want to. Equipment is wiped down after each party finishes for the evening.

Pretty reasonable, Imo.

We are starting our fall league tonight in Charleston, WV. Only 8 teams, but, they are 5 person teams. We will be bowling one team per pair of lanes, the way we finished up when we got back to finish our league from last season.

Same facility, we are bowling a 9 pin no tap mini league, 2 per team. We bowl two teams per pair of lanes.

We are hoping our benevolent dictators allow us some sanity & mercy before Thanksgiving.... :(

Given that, I would feel safe with 4's or 3's. Plenty of room on our concourses for distancing at those numbers. Doubles is too fast for my old bones.

We're starting leagues right after Labor Day. Unknown yet as to how we bowl the teams but one house is limiting the number of teams (basically fifty percent capacity). Another house, "we will bowl all teams that want to bowl." I suppose that means they are open to shifts, or bowling more than one night. Regardless, they can only use fifty percent of their capacity. It will be interesting. As far as masks go, we will be required to wear them the entire time we are bowling (unless you're eating or drinking).

Ok, thanks. My center wasn’t opening until today and didn’t know what was happening. That’s the first article I’ve seen listing the requirements, WNY not as good sending out the info

I think that applies to all of New York.
I've been disappointed with the lack of transparency of the process of getting things going and the lack of communication.
I've had to do more communicating to bowlers than the BPAA has.

So I found out our restrictions for league in Buffalo. They have shower curtains between tables/pairs so ALL lanes can be used and we’re bowling PBA style so after first team bowls their first frame you’ll bowl 2 frames to limit traffic at the ball return
