Tech Talk: What to do when oil doesn't set before league!

Post by bowl1820 »

Okay this should be good for a discussion.

TL;DW version (If I'm following him.)

1-They get done oiling 5 mins. before you start bowling. But the oil needs 15-30 mins to properly stick to the lane.
2-A lot of people start bowling with plastic and Urethane balls and pumping it down second arrow, they make a lot of carrydown in front of the head pin and everyone one starts leaving 10 pins.

What do you do?

If your a low rev stroker tweener, You buy or use a "Strong" Solid or Hybrid Asym., Drilled up strong (Example given: 65° x 4.5" x 30°) with a lot surface.

Other options:
1- move right (or left as the case maybe)
2-If your ball is fast, slow it down.
3-Come up the back of the ball, make it read earlier.

This is called shaping the shot.

Thanks for sharing!

I happened to skim that article when I saw your subject, so I've added the link below.

May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.

I read the Kegel article cited in the video a while back and sure enough the week I read the article, bowled on a pair that was the last oiled 2 minutes before we started bowling a UBA match. There were 5 other bowlers and myself on that pair and we were all 200+ average bowlers. I was the only one who shot over 600 (685 to be exact). I balled up as the match went on and did not lose carry unlike the others on the pair.

Thanks for the share bowl1820. Hopefully others will benefit from the info.

When the lanes are oiled two minutes before league, you do the same thing that you do if the lanes were oiled 10 minutes before, or twenty minutes before, or two hours before, or the day before: you do what needs to be done to strike. There are no formulas or guarantees. Listen to the lanes, they'll tell you what to do... it's as simple as that!
