Virus at www.pbatour.com

Post by charlest »

Friday, AUG. 16, 2019, 9:45 AM Eastern time

I just tried 2x to access the PBATOUR.COM website and 2x Norton intercepted a Virus/malware attack called Rig Exploit Kit Redirection 13.

I'd suggest people not access this website until the problem is cleared up.

Try http://www.pba.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; instead of http://www.pbatour.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I'm an IT guy - my advice is to leave it until the original link shows clean. Just lets people know.

In a prior life, I was a Stone age IT guy. Learned Grace Hopper-ware.
Wrote programs on punch cards. My but I'm old.
After a massive paradigm switch with much blood letting, miraculously survived an got my toes wet on the seashore of distributed processing, internet etc.

I think boomers point might be analogous to a detour or warning sign for our readers???

Not trying to preach to the choir ...
We know there are various tricks used to mislead folks. A transposed letter or plausible phrase for example. It's a never ending game of heroes and villains. All it takes is one genius to create and sell to willing bad guys.

Keep abreast of O.S. patches and upgrades, but even that can have an occasional faux pas.
Any artifice can be circumvented. Anti virus, anti malware, aunty Em-ware are all fallible.

I tend or try to think strategically, "what might my enemy do?" ...

I had a bowling buddy I called Boomer, we had some good times on the lanes.

By the way, if you guys have suggested best practices etc, even though I'm known to my tribe as Running Mouth, I'm all ears.
Of course, disclaimers to said practices are understood.

Cheerio.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.
