PAP position up-down
I was just thinking about a subject I've thought about considerably over the years. Is it better to have the PAP above or below the center of grip for pin carry? Does one or the other, have a pin carry advantage? Or, does the weight block dictate the track in relation to fingers/thumb?

Re: PAP position up-down
The PAP is nothing more than an indication of the axis off of your release. It's just a point of reference from which your layout is determined by a competent PSO.

The PAP is just the result of how the ball comes off your hand. Be more concerned with your axis tilt/rotation, speed, and RPM.

"The vertical coordinate of the PAP location has nothing to do with ball motion. It's an anomaly.
The longer the thumb stays in the ball, the more the vertical coordinate is up. In full rollers, in which the thumb stays in the ball the longest, the vertical coordinate is usually 2+" up."

Re: PAP position up-down
PAP coordinates are relative to an arbitrary standardized reference point. (center of grip)
The coordinate values are more or less irrelevant to the bowlers metrics, and are certainly not a reliable indicator of anything.
The direct distance from the first oil ring to the PAP, without regard to the PAP coordinates, is a reliable indicator of axis tilt, which is, IMO, the most important factor in creating good ball motion.
~8" is pretty close to ideal.
