Putting "nothing" on the ball. no hitting up etc
This is a fine example of not putting "anything" on the ball. We talked before about throwing the ball at 1mph. I am not sure the speed of this thing, I don't think I got a reading. Went back to doing drills today. Video clip should be watched from start to around 1 min 20 sec.

What is the purpose of this? I hope you didn’t waste too much time doing this.

The purpose of this is two fold: it teaches the feeling of rolling the ball vs. throwing the ball, and it teaches the feeling of staying behind the ball. It is anything but a waste of time!44boyd wrote:What is the purpose of this? I hope you didn’t waste too much time doing this.

I understand the importance of a no step drill, I’m questioning what he is doing in this exact video with his release.RobMautner wrote:

This specific drill, done the way Krava is doing it, could be done at home for free. Save time and money!RobMautner wrote:

He is learning to simply roll the ball, rather than trying to make it hook. This is the single most important thing that long-time bowlers can learn in terms of modern bowling.44boyd wrote:I understand the importance of a no step drill, I’m questioning what he is doing in this exact video with his release.

I’m with Arkansas on this one, rolling it like a toddler can be done at home. Now if he were performing this drill like you instructed and in like Verity’s videos I'd have no question. I guess I’m naive in seeing the carryover from this particular execution of the drill.RobMautner wrote:

The drill is done like I was told to do. In verity (I might have the name misspelled), she is doing more then 12". I went back and wrote down everything told in all the msg that I got on here. I have a page and a half of notes on the 1 step drill, and not quite a page on the no step drill.
I didn't have the direct link to verity videos because it isn't in my grouping under coaching and it is elsewhere. I went to youtube found what I thought was it and then I watched both no step and 1 step videos before going out to practice yesterday. I did 1 game no step and 2 games 1 step.
There are 3 important things in no step #1 don't cock the wrist, #2 don't go more then 12" on the swing (that means like 6 in forward and 6 in back) Vertiy does about 24" I believe. #3 trailing foot needs to be on toes pointed left heel pointing right no more then 7-7:30 postion. etc etc
The whole point of the thread was something to "laugh at". I was being serious when I did it, but it is a bit embaressing when someone has to come down and walk over and down the lane to get the ball. It wasn't an empty bowling alley. People in there always ask me "what the hell am I doing". I just ignore it all and just keep going. At this point in time, I believe the only thing that I don't have down pat and still at a complete loss at is getting in the leverage postion.
Someone mentioned about doing it at home. It can be done outside on the grass. I can't do it on the carpet and mess the carpet up here.

Re: Putting "nothing" on the ball. no hitting up etc
That’s weird, in his instructions for you it’s 12 inches back and forward so it’d be 24 like Verity. Anyhoo, You could use a pillow to soften the landing or use an old ball in the garage/carport. If you do the drill normal I don’t see a problem doing it at the alley. But for what was presented, that’s just wasting money to me.

You must not have a copy of the attached photo with you at the center!krava wrote:The drill is done like I was told to do. Seriously, instead of making useless post like this one you should spend all your free time re-reading the information I spent countless hours providing you as it has clearly passed over your head.
The whole point of the thread was something to "laugh at". You are not a comedian and BowlingChat is about providing technical support not one liners for upstart comedians.
At this point in time, I believe the only thing that I don't have down pat and still at a complete loss at is getting in the leverage position. Isn't that why you are practicing the Foul Line Drill?

Thanks, but no thanks. I rather not pollute the Coaching Discussion Forum with his useless post.

I'll keep an eye on things.
If he cannot follow directions, maybe its time for him to take a scheduled break from BowlingChat.
Will monitor.

the way that norm duke shows how to do it, it's much better than what he's doing and showing.
