Finger Tape

Post by jdrsuper »

I'm looking for opinions and recommendation on finger tape. I want to wrap tape on my fingers when one or both finger holes feel loose. I have inserts in the finger holes and usually there isn't a problem. Sometimes and mostly in the winter I find my finger holes a bit loose. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend fitting tape with inserts.
Most tapes will be too thick for this purpose, and the friction between the tape and grips will cause problems with the tape peeling back from your skin.

I would recommend adjusting the insert size with a business card.

Cut the card into 1/8-1/4" wide strips.
Pry the far (finger nail) side of the grip from the ball (just enough for the paper shim, no need to remove the grip), and insert 1 shim at a time to adjust the fit
If the grip is glued in that spot, then try the gripping edge side. Or any side, really. Wherever there isn't glue.
Make sure to trim the shim so it doesn't protrude past the ball surface.

I'm with Darkhorse on this. I've tried tape on my fingers - but it gets gummy, it slides off, it's just not consistent.

I DID worry about that with my thumb tape (I use the green) but as long as I rub it nicely, it stays on.

No - consider that your inserts are "consumable" - they definitely wear out over time (and mine are worn out. . .reminder to self. . . replace)

Guys,

Thanks for the advice. I bowled Senior league today and the ball which felt loose on Sunday in the left finger hole was fine today. These balls are less than six months old and I usually replace inserts about every year. I bought some Ebonite magic tape to try when it happens again.
