Going from 2-handed to 1 handed bowler

Hey all,
I have a friend who has been in to bowling for 1,5 year now. He asked me if I could help him transitioning from 2 handed to 1 handed with thumb. The reason that he wants to change is because he had an accident while horseback riding (in the past) and he's unsure if he will be able to stay using his style.
Before I work with him I would like to hear from you what your opinions are about this change.
Do you guys think of something that would be very important to watch out for or to focus on?
I think working on his approach will take some time since the movements are a bit different and don't let him focus on his revs since he'll (probably) be lower than what he's used to.
Any other tips and guidelines will be appreciated.
