That very same year, Del tossed a gutter ball, first frame I think. The score was within 10.
So he lost 2 PBA titles.
Indeed stumbling at the finish line hurts.

First of all, I love Marshall Holman as a bowler.
It's odd that 2 of my favorites were opposite personality types, Parker Bohn III my other.
Loved his style, a clear case that there are many ways to bowl well.
Nice clips of him on our wiki.
One could argue that his internal fire drove him to win, but there were times that it cost him dearly. I believe, had he been able to clear his rage, he'd have won 30+ titles.

Finally, this montage by Dean Champ.
Watch the whole thing and remember the last part when you need a grin.
We need more laughter ...
Thanks Dean, that was great.

Anyone remember Brian Voss leaving the 3-6-9 and picking the 6 clean?
Priceless.

I don't see how you throw the ball in the gutter especially when you start it that far left. But i haven't played on a pattern that I had to get the ball outside of 5. throwing straight down 5 or 5 out to 3 i can understand a gutter. i don't usually get mad, the first emotion I have shown all season was last thursday, stomped the lane hard with my right foot after missing the 4 8 in the 10th leaving me 9 pins shy of 600 after starting out with 242.

Bowling is a game of inches and humans are not perfect.

All it takes sometimes is to miss right. I have thrown double gutters before in the same frame and I always stand left of 21. Like Kajmk said we are not perfect and some days you just don't have your best stuff.

i used to be able to throw a straight ball with anything i had but when i raised my backswing i couldn't do that anymore. so now when i have any right side spares i throw a back up ball. i have gotten good enough at it that if i had to i could throw back up for strikes too (shot 166 with it before league and thats 16 pins above average for me)
If I had 6 hours to chop down a tree I would spend the first 4 sharpening the axe.

I love the back up for right side spares and use to be able to throw for strikes as well. One of these days I'm going to pick up the 2 8 10 with a backup ball.
