Train for your sport, train like your life depends on it.

Post by kajmk »

Alternative title based on a Garden decoration I saw.
A rock with the phrase
GROW DAM IT !

Did not think that had curb appeal ...

Things to remember.

Bowling IS a sport, an athletic endeavor.
If you are serious about success and longevity, TRAIN like an athlete.
Train for your sport, train like your life depends on it, it may!

Daniel Levitin:

It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

Oh, I'm an old guy, but DAM it I'm going to look good in that box !!!
If anyone is there, I want them to say, "did not look too bad for an old guy".
Ok where's the refreshments !!!
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.

The above quotes are not factual but they are, take it to the bank, TRUTHFUL.

Thank you John.

have you ever used one of those bowling swing trainers or is that a joke? They even show one on the USBC training thing.

I’ve gotten a couple of the bowling buddies, I find them useful at home.

There are different training devices.

Consider studying the premise and rational about any device.
You may be able to jury rig your own device.
It does not have to be a clone, it has to accomplish the job.
For example, look at the premise of the device you see in this USBC video.
Then look at the beverage container with the handle big enough for a few fingers.
I happened to have one. After seeing the video, I tried it as a free swing trainer.
If you pull your arm down, your hand will outrace the container and the handle will press against your fingers, you will feel it when it happens. This is just an example of using what you have, perhaps fabricating your own tool.

The premise is let the ball fall, achieve swing apex, let it fall.

The overuse of grip pressure is one of the main culprits of the armswing.
Clench your fist and squeeze, now feel your arm from wrist to shoulder.

Michelle Mullins Nickel drill (mentioned on this forum several times) is a 5 cent training device.

The quintessential skill of an elite coach is seeing CAUSE! If you do not fix cause, you will be like a hamster on a wheel.

Symptoms are easy to see.

Notice Jim's analysis and how he illustrates cause and effect. His ability to detect and remedy cause, makes him elite.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.
