Coach Del Warren on practice and drills.
A very cogent point.
Paraphrasing - "most of our practice takes place off the lanes, it takes place at home, in front of a mirror." "You do not need the lanes to work on everything"
I've not watched all of the video yet, but did see part of his presentation on day 2.
He hammered on the fact when you are working on X, work on X, not how many pins you hit.

So if coach Merrill or your coach gives you a development plan, print it, enlarge the pictures, get your mirror and some floor space, some props, some tape for the floor.
If you have idle time at home, some can be used to improve your bowling.
This premise is almost as old as dirt.

I vividly remember Norm Dukes reply to the question "Norm, what do you practice? "Fundamentals".

Your coach is going to give you a plan that may not jibe with yours. That will be because your coach has traced symptoms back to causes. He is addressing CAUSE.

For example why do I look like I do at the foul line, how do I fix it?
Form is essential for most folks. A 115 mph fastball is worthless if you can't command it.

View Dr. Dan Levitin's short video on teaching and learning.
Become that 4 year old !!
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.

Not having watched all of the presentations, I periodically go back and visit these presentations.

Last night, CDB and Steve Padilla.

Carolyn Dorin Ballard's presentation should be an inspiration to many bowler's.
If you have the fire of desire, but have self doubts because you think your game does not measure up to the big kids on the block.

Listen to her share a bit of her story and self assessment.
Testimony that this great sport is still a game of how many, not how.

Granted we all have our limits, but it is a certainty that you'll never know what they are if you stop trying to be the best version of yourself you can be.

It is easy to see why she is a top coach and motivator.

If you've not viewed these videos and you are a seeker of knowledge, give it a go.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.
