Megamavs freedoms of speach

Post by gunso »

why in the heck would you close down the urethane thread just because some urethane enthuastics do not share the same views on urethane vs. resin as you do?

there was absolutely nothing there that would offend anyone or anything other then your persistance that nobody should be throwing urethane and all urethane act the same

Ahhhh the urethane thread... we got some real urethaneophiles... I started the thread and all I can say is that yeah, higher speed (am at 18.5-19.5 OTH) and higher rpms (over 420) urethane can be great... some people could benefit a lot more from working on their physical game and getting more speed and a more efficient release... some just feel comfortable with the way they bowl and don’t want to get better... it’s a game... or a sport... well to some urethane is a tool, to some it’s a crutch, but if it’s legal it’s an option for us two handers... until two handed bowling is banned... can’t wait for a plastic with a Guru core jejeje...

Nah, let’s resurrect Manhattan Rubber and put the MR black cover on a Cash core :)

Regarding “freedom of speech”, I don’t believe participation in a forum like this is protected under the constitution (as this is a global site, *any* constitution). I like Nord but the comment about “reactive troll” was, to me, telling someone “shut up” who actually has the power and right to shut down the conversation as he sees fit. Your house, your rules. Perhaps a winking emoticon would have gone a long way.

I’ve said much the same in a different way, I forget how I put it but something like, obsessing over a couple points in RG or diff in parts that are bound to be dominated by cover seems much ado about not much. Am I a troll too?

You’re right. “Calm your tits” was a much more respectful way to tell people to shut up.

I thought Nord's "reactive troll" comment was intended as humorous. I try and give people the benefit of the doubt and figured he forgot the smiley face. I can't imagine he was being mean, but it's hard to tell online.

Anyway, I was enjoying that thread and don't see any reason why people can't explore options to reactive. My league shot has been incredibly frustrating the past few weeks as we've switched oil type 3x and experienced various Kegel machine malfunctions. The 150 avg bowlers don't seem to notice, but the 225 avg bowlers sure do! The season is winding down and it's been impossible to make average.

I have been throwing AMF and Manhattan rubber after hours (I'm not joking here) and it's been incredibly satisfying to feel like you're rewarded for shot making. Little or no brainpower devoted to trying to map the oil pattern and make adjustments, only to move into a mine field.

Obviously, I can't average 225 doing this, but I'm fairly sure I could average 195-200 and it's a tempting thought to use rubber or urethane exclusively next year and find enjoyment in just rolling the ball and knocking stuff down.

Like Lucy telling Charlie Brown she thinks he is a great pitcher, then leaving the mound ...

Perhaps we can all say "April Fool" and let it go ...

:D

...I really mean it when I say a plastic with a Guru core would be great for rev dominant players on certain conditions, my daughter who is slower speed high revs really likes the Track plastic with the Paradox core (Track Spare +), I believe the Guru is a great core. Make me a Rack Attack Urethane, a Guru Urethane and a Guru Plastic (with Mo’s cartoon in a lab coat with some scientific formulas flying around) and I’ll buy all three...

The reactive troll comment was not nice and this applies to every internet forum: you can disagree with the moderator but try to do it in a respectful manner or risk being banned...

Tony makes excellent points. As a senior who dabbled with the 2 handed release and 1 handed release, plastic was an excellent surface.
Another point might be that in general, many seniors morph into rev dominant players.
I think Rob Mautner has had satisfaction using plastic.

Although we have people in high places that revel in name calling and disparagement, we can all take the high road.

There is much to be learned via this forum, no point in driving anyone away or discouraging discussion.

There is an old bit of wisdom that says, "never respond to an email (post) when you are angry".

You should really try the Hammer Black Widow Spare. ;)

Then maybe start a new topic: "The 2019 plastic ball thread". just kidding...

I got the Black Widow Spare, works awesomely, but it doesn't have a lot of grip to the lane at all, need high flush hits to strike. Acts like a 2yr old 300 game reactive if you don't hit high flush
