The One Thing That Really Makes Oil Patterns Play Different

Post by bowl1820 »

Reading a new Kegel article about topography called The One Thing That Really Makes Oil Patterns Play Different by Ted Thompson

The article talks about the three most common topographical shaped lanes today that they call the seagull-wing or bird-wing shape, depressed (dish-shaped), and crowned (mound-shaped) and how they affect your ball motion.

Excerpt:
"Lane shape is more the reason than anything else why certain styles (ball rolls) “match up” to certain bowling centers."
"REMEMBER, it isn't how much the ball hooks, it's where."
