bowlingball flare....
reading this article,it says that with pin above fingers, you get less than maximum flare. ball goes longer before making its move. with pin right of fingers(for right handed bowlers),you get more flare. what would the flare be (if any) if the pin layout is under your fingers?

The amount of flare depends on the distance form your PAP, balance hole locations and the post drilled drilling angle.

"REMEMBER, it isn't how much the ball hooks, it's where."

Re: bowlingball flare....
See how it compares to this article. It's the best one I've seen on track flare.

Re: bowlingball flare....
My novice thoughts:
Wider track=more ball movement on lane
BUT
Your ball is picking up oil every time it is thrown and IF you are wiping it after every roll you will need to adjust more quickly left.
If your flare isn't as wide, you don't pick up as much and will throw more consistent shots later in your games without moving as much to compensate.
Does this make sense or am I looking at it the wrong way?

Re: bowlingball flare....
Wider track doesn't necessarily mean more movement. A ball rolled straight, no rotation will not hook regardless of how much flare there is. A wider track flare exposes the ball to more friction giving it more hook potential.Jp6940 wrote:My novice thoughts:

A low flare ball has more flare overlap at the bowtie, this is why it doesn't hook as much or as soon as a high flare ball. It exposes the ball to less friction.
