ball drilling

Post by 59NYAZ69 »

I and mywife have thrown a full roller for about 50 years. I would like to know what would be the best ball to buy that would be an advantage for a full roller style. WE are currently using the fullroller drill, pin a little left and below the thumb hole. I think our styles would be considered a power full roller,as we don't suitcase the ball.We are more under the ball.I would like to set up our bags,to cover from most aggressive to least aggressive, that way we can cover most conditions. Thanks,BOB and Romy.

Welcome to BowlingChat. Have you considered changing your style? As you have been bowling the full roller style for so long it will take a while, but you will have more selection of bowling balls to choose from. New bowling balls usually come with instructions for the driller about different styles of bowling and full roller is often included.

When you go to your ball driller ask for your ball speed, revs, and other metrics to be considered. You have not included that information so it makes it more difficult to provide advice. While both you both use the full roller style, you probably have different ball speeds and revs, etc.

You said the pin is below and left of the thumb hole, which sounds like it is on the track. Where is the CG located, is it also on the track? Does the ball have an extra hole drilled?

By moving the pin location relative to the track and the GC location relative to the track and introducing an extra hole the driller can introduce more dynamics into the drilling options.

Not for a full roller. The full roller track goes through the center of the grip, the pin will be below and left of the track. -- JohnP

It is possible for the track to be to the left of the thumb hole and to the right of the rightmost finger hole and it will still go through the center of the grip. Without seeing the ball we can only guess where the track is precisely located.

Yes, that would be a leftie's full roller track. -- JohnP
