Lane taper questions

Read an article from Kegel about fine tuning oil pattern and need some additional tuition.

No Taper to My Pattern

The easiest way to create taper in the pattern is to make adjustments to your lane machine’s drive speeds during the forward pass only. Increasing the drive speeds on your forward run towards the end of the pattern will apply less oil in that area which increases front to back taper.

If your machine has Kegel's reverse brush drop capability, dropping the buffer brush farther back into the pattern on the reverse pass can also give you more front to back taper within your pattern.

My limited knowledge of taper is, it is the longtitude oil ratio, from foul line to the end of the pattern.
1. What does it mean by "No Taper" and "increase front to back taper" in terms of ratio?
2. Will a high taper ratio be easier or difficult to play comparatively?
3. Why "dropping the buffer brush farther back into the pattern on the reverse pass" can increase front to back taper?

Thanks.

Thank you.

1 paragraph mentioned that

The ‘reverse drop brush’ function also helps control the break point area in a much more defined manner. Meaning, if the break point for most customers is too late, the reverse brush drop can be brought more towards the foul line. If the break point is too early, the reverse brush drop can be taken more towards the end of the pattern. We have found for medium length patterns in most environments, a reverse brush drop at the 32’ distance is a good starting point

Check if my interpretation is correct.

1. Drop the reverse brush later and close to the foul will move the breakpoint earlier. My guess this will increase the taper ratio front to end.

2. Drop the reverse brush sooner will decrease the taper ratio. The pattern looks flatter (front to end) and the breakpoint will be farther down lane.
