As most of you know, I have recently returned to bowling after some injuries. Last night things really clicked, I had three great games in a row and last week wasn't bad either. Now I am wondering with all the changes, how far back should I actually count toward my average if the better/healthier bowling continues?
I do not currently, nor have I ever played in a league so I have no experience as far as when/if bowlers ever reset their averages from year to year or if the bowler's game significantly changes one way or another.
Thanks for your help.

Re: When Do I Throw Out My Old Games?
League bowlers usually start their season in September and their averages start from then. The season last till about April. Basically it is the average for the season. Much like a professional baseball player has a batting average for a season. A career average would be all seasons combined for a lifetime.
Here in Michigan, the State tournament keeps your tournament average for I believe 27 games. That would equate to 3 years of bowling Team, doubles and singles 9 games each year in that particular tournament. Granted you can bowl in it more than once per year so it doesn't necessarily go back 3 years for everybody.
Hope this helps.

Re: When Do I Throw Out My Old Games?
Thanks Eric, it does. I understand that open bowling isn't the same as league bowling, but right now this is the best metric I have for tracking progress and if I end up having a big move, it would seem silly to keep scores from a time that is very different score-wise. I didnt think that bowlers would still have their earliest league scores factored into their average 30 years later.
Thanks for clearing up the timeline on this.
