No, their all different to a degree.turbotwister wrote:are all the distances the same between the pin and the CG and if not, why?
It's because of the variations in the manufactoring process, no ball can be made exactly same as the last. Theres always slight variations and those will cause the cg to be in a slightly different place.
Here take a look at this article by Nick Siefers it explains it.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS VARIATION:
THE SMALLEST of SHIFTS CAN ALTER PIN DISTANCE and TOP WEIGHT

Re: pin and cg
bowl1820, i was wondering if the pin to cg makes a difference in the layout. the reason is because a friend of mine was ordering a ball and it showed it as 14# w/ @ 1-2"pin and i have never seen that before and told him that i didn't think that would matter in the layout though.....should it ?
Re: pin and cg
Others could give you better detail, but having a too Short/Long distances can limit some layout options. It would depend on the bowlers style and the type of layout they wanted/needed to use.turbotwister wrote:bowl1820, i was wondering if the pin to cg makes a difference in the layout. the reason is because a friend of mine was ordering a ball and it showed it as 14# w/ @ 1-2"pin and i have never seen that before and told him that i didn't think that would matter in the layout though.....should it ?
Plus pin to cg distance can have a bearing on ability to make the statically legal and whether the ball will need a weight hole.
