PBA rules for plugging

Post by pbp56 »

Where would I find a detailed description of the rules for plugged balls on the National and Regional tours. Senior and Regular.

USBC seems to have no restrictions

From what I remember on the pro tour ball plug can be used but has to be clear so they can inspect the plugged hole for foreign objects. On the regional tour I believe the rules are the same, but I've heard sometimes they are a little more lax in enforcing it.

Matt,

Those were the old rules.

PBA no longer has color restrictions to plugged holes.

Cool, thanks for the update, it was an older PBA rule book (2006?) that I think I read that in, but don't remember exactly. That's actually quite a relief as many of my balls are plugged and not with clear plug. Not that I am planning on hitting the tour anytime soon...or ever. Maybe when I'm a senior...

A friend just sent in his application but I don't think he has gotten the welcome packet yet, I am anxious to take a look at it once it arrives.

Rule 11.8 Plugged Equipment - Plugging material may be used in accordance with current USBC specifications. No foreign matter may be placed withing the plug area, and all equipment shall otherwise comply with PBA regulations.

So does that mean my Nsane with 10 plugged holes would be perfectly legal as long as it meets the USBC static weights?

It seems to me the default regulations for the PBA are the USBC specs

Yes, it would be legal - at least I am unaware of any USBC rules that limit how many plugged holes you can have.
