I took the new ball out to the Alley this morning and played three games by myself. I won’t mention the lousy score while I got used to throwing the new ball, but I can tell you that my left hip was hurting and I couldn’t put my weight on it without pain, as I slid up to the foul line.

Could be Arthritis, could be lack of stretching.........

It forced me to drop my left balancing arm down to my left leg to support myself, which is not what I want to be doing!!

When I first had the ball sized to my hand and I threw a few frames with it, I did not have my pinky taped to my ring finger on my throwing hand. This time, I DID tape my fingers up, and I’m wondering if maybe part of the problem is that. At least as it relates to the lack of hook that I had today?

Doesn’t solve the hip issue though. My step-son, who was a CrossFit Instructor said “stretching” and Tumeric might be useful things to employ. I’m thinking Ibuprophen (lol).

Frustrating!!

I have been having similar pains as yours for many years. I have seen various doctors. Start with your primary physician who may recommend other medical specialists: orthopedics, physical therapy, pain specialists, etc. Get a diagnosis first before you go further.

I have had MRIs that show that I have trochanteric bursitis. It's been a long road to recovery, but I am finding the most relief from a pain specialist. He provides trigger point injections and Rx for opioids which I have found to be a better choice for me than OTC meds. Since your son is a specialist, ask him for some stretching exercises that might help your hips.

I also use a combination of neoprene thigh braces (Ace or Mueller) that keep my muscles warm while bowling. Sometimes I use pain patches, as well (Salopas, etc.). Don't ignore what your body is telling you. Start a plan for recovery ASAP. It will only get worse if you do nothing.

Having suffered from trochanteric bursitis myself, it's an unbelievable experience to now be pain-free.
The injection didn't seem to provide much relief for me nor medication.

Luckily, I have some Hot & Cold reusable gel packs from another injury (old age) on hand. I froze the gel pack and applied it directly over the trochanteric bony area for a half an hour 3-4 times a day. Went to bed every night with it over the area. The packs typically, only last about a half-hour before they are no longer effective.

I have been pain-free for about seven months, I don't remember but it took around 4-6 weeks for the pain to dissipate.

But, for anyone who has this type of pain, when it's gone you feel as though you're ready to run a marathon.

I found this product which I came close to purchasing but opted for the hot/cold gel packs instead.

As mentioned healing, is a slow process.

Played five games on Sunday afternoon with absolutely no hip pain whatsoever! Don’t know why not, but I’m grateful!
