Bracket/Pot greed

What's up with pots and brackets but we can't see what's collected and what your cut is?

You've got 2 choices when it comes to people who run brackets like that:

1. Bowl to win brackets and not worry about the finances.
2. Not participate.

And speaking of bracket-type controversy - I am part of league that has kind of dismantled itself (from 32 teams a few years back down to 10 this year) because one of the league officers who ran brackets would put "hot" bowlers in brackets unbeknownst to the bowlers themselves. At certain points of time, I was winning brackets I didn't even enter myself into...

Oh my!

I don't care if they get a free in or 5bux/bracket or whatever. It's a lot of work!

I just ask for transparency.

One league I bowl in the House runs the brackets. $2 a bracket, they keep nothing-100% payout. Everything printed each game and laid out for everyone to see. Doesn't prevent someone "sponsoring" a bowler but that hasn't been a problem that I am aware of. Not sure how this started, the House offering to run it, but it's been going for more than several years now without any problems or complaints that I know of. Personally, I like it.

The house here has $3 brackets, 1st=$15 2nd=$5 and the house gets a $4 rake.
