Getting ball farther down the lane before hooking
Hi, I'm having trouble getting my ball further down the lane before it hooks, my ball is hooking too early and missing the 1-3 pocket (right handed bowler). My ball speed is relatively slow (8-9 mph). Any recommendations for where I should be playing, 1st arrow, 2nd arrow, 3rd arrow? Thank you!

8-9 mph is way too slow. That should be the main reason of the early hook.bowlergirl wrote:Hi, I'm having trouble getting my ball further down the lane before it hooks, my ball is hooking too early and missing the 1-3 pocket (right handed bowler). First of all, before any suitable recommendations or judgements can be offered, we need to know more about you.

What's your bowling bio, how long, how often, how did you learn, any lessons?
Compared to other people your age, your size, your physique and body type, your state of health, how does your speed match up?

Copied from another post it was part of an answer to a bowler who has been out of the game for a while.

Some very good coaches pay a lot of attention to proper foot work first.
Good foot work facilitates just about everything in the physical game.

I hope you are making progress and are optimistic about going forward.
Remember we are not robots. Even Walter Ray has deviations from shot to shot.
His are just tinier and less critical.
A good coach can smooth out your rough edges, remove inefficiencies, this will lead to a game that puts you in the best position to repeat your best shots.
I realize that sometimes time, resources, and circumstance make it difficult to work with a coach. This is one reason we suggested submitting a video.
Also, keep an archive of your videos, the good and the bad.
Comparison is one way to find out why a player is not performing like they used to.
There is a topic on the forum about Motion Analysis Software. There Jim listed some FREE software that can download YouTube and one to help you analyze.
