Any advice, tips or drills to offer for a lazy or late trail leg? Ive been trying to stabilize my finish but am not getting the trail leg out of the way soon enough for the swing path to clear. If i do clear the leg, i notice that i havent really swept the leg out away from my slide leg, just kind of tucked the tail knee behind the slide knee. Im able to keep balance for the most part but it is not an ideal finish, being taller (6-3), i would assume this is hindering my ability to get lower for the delivery.
When i do try to sweep the trail leg, i notice that it is almost done after the ball is already delivered, sort of a quick kick out to the left instead of the desired smooth sweep.

Video is always advisable.
Intuitively, I think its partially a result and the body trying to maintain balance. But that is just a guess.
Dean will nail it if you give him visual evidence.

Coaches use the side view to analyze timing, as the key elements are totally visible.

Thank you for your input, i never did get around to making a video from the side, i do apologize. I have checked out the videos you have posted here. I am trying to make adjustments in my timing, it seems i am quite a bit early which has not been allowing me to clear my trail leg. From what i have noticed, my ball is behind my knee on its downward motion just as my slide step makes contact with the floor.... (which would explain the difficulty of clearing my trail leg). I do appreciate the time you have taken to address my concerns and i hope to eventually get a side vid to show.

Side view will also allow us to see size of steps, armswing shape.... As an aside if I do not see any sharp angles in the armswing, I tend to leave it alone and encourage the bowler to relax the bowling arm as to achieve a freer swing that is easier to repeat. Armswing does not need to be purely gravity fed, it does need to be repeated easily. I'm more concerned with does a bowler stay in balance during the entire approach. IMHO, it is far easier to get into a strong balance position at the foul line if the bowler is in balance during their entire motion. You need to find YOUR balance during the entire approach.
