head over ball

4) During release the trail leg moves left facilitating another increase in lateral spine tilt angle.

The above is a quote from a previous question, which brings me to this one, during coaching last night i could not hit my target, until i got lower down and rotated the hips more, would that mean i had the trail leg move left more, i then hit my target and felt more leverage off the hand.
Would that be correct?
I am finding small corrections like this make up the big picture...thanks.

First a few questions
1) What are you and your coach working on?
2) What were your coach’s comments when you couldn’t hit your target?
3) By lower down do you mean increased knee bend and continuation?
4) Rotated hips how far open? Over rotation is not good.

Doug Kent
1) As you can see his trail leg is in the process of moving left as the ball enters the release area and continues moving left during the release.
2) His hips are open as the ball enters the release area but remain stable as the trail leg continues left.
3) His lateral spine tilt allows the ball to fall from the top of the back swing to a position under his head.
4) After release his right arm continues down the intended target line and ends up in front of his face.

Hitting the target
1) Starts with proper body alignment with the target line at address
2) The ball being in line with the head at the top of the swing
3) Lateral spine tilt
3) Allowing gravity to control the down swing.

Leverage is just a by-product of the all of the above.

We were working on staying behind the ball during DYS coaching but it did not feel right, so we agreed to more opening my hips and shoulders more, that got the ball under my head more along with a deeper knee bend. I can't measure how far the hips were open but its more of how it felt, thats part of how i learn by how a good delivery felt and repeating it.
My coach did comment when i felt ok , i was getting better at staying behind the ball, could that be partly because my arm is closer to the body and feet?
I have a few more seesions being coached, then we will put a video together to get your opinion.
Thanks for your time so far.
