Simple answer. NO.
A lot of things you can do without beeing on the lanes. Specially practicing specific parts of the approach or the release.
Bowling is a sport, wich requires good coordination, endurence, physical and mental strengh. It is good to look into different sports and see how they develope skills. Bowling is more than throwing a bowlingball down the lane and nock down 10 pins.

Anyway there are a lot of things you can do off the lanes. Mental reps. Visualize the shot you want to execute *where uou stand and throw* ect... and practice visualization of executing the shot as you see the pins carry.
For the physical side of things I like to either use a football or a cheap dollar store plastic ball and practice my release. With the football I just throw it up in the air underhand simulating the release. Same with the ball except I throw it into the wall *its light enough to do so*.
Another thing I like to do *got this from a local hall of fame inductee * grab your bowling ball and simulate your stance right before your release. Get your hand position in your desired release position and get into a nice sized knee bend with the trial foot off of the floor for a good 10-20 seconds a few reps of these and you'll be feeling it in the morning! This drill should strengthen the muscles used and needed to post better shots more consistently.
