As I'm working with more kids prepping for Junior Gold, a common issue I see is too much axis rotation.

I'm looking for some drills to work on decreasing those numbers to give them a smoother, more controllable shape on sport patterns.

Any suggestions?

We tend to make this game a lot more complicated than it needs to be.

Always put tape on PAP so they can see their release when practicing. Swinging and releasing a water bottle between partners can teach too, use bottle cap to simulate PAP.

Been doing a little more research.....

I remember seeing a video of a coach putting a piece of tape on the pad of his ring finger and going through the swing while keeping the tape balanced to promote a lower axis rotation.

Another tip I remember is to lead with your ring finger.

Of course Slowinski has his VAR-E method
