Suggested drillings for the Dick Weber oil pattern

Post by strike654 »

I am a strong MoRich fan and a PBA Regional player looking on some suggestions and help with equipment. I currently use the Ntense LevRG, LevRG Response, and Awesome Hook bowling balls. Because I am a feel type player and make speed and hand position adjustments I currently do not use a large array of bowling balls. I am interested in getting new equipment from MoRich to fill the gaps in my bag, and I need suggestions on drillings for the different PBA patterns.

To start off here are my stats:

PAP - 5 inches over, 7/8 up
Axis Tilt - 3 Deg
Axis Rotation - 45 Deg
Speed - 14-18 at pin deck

I currently have a control drilling on the Ntense (love it, very versitile)
Awesome hook is drilled for early read and to play right of 20
LevRG Response is currently what I use for drier lanes (drilled for a balance of length and backend), not really what I am looking for in games 7-8 of the Regionals at this time, need something for even more burnt conditions.

My friend (LordOrange on here), has given me his Awesome Finish and it is plugged, sitting at the pro shop, ready to be drilled.

I believe it has a 4 inch pin, and has high top weight. I am looking to use it on the upcomming Regional on the 27th of March. Lane condition is Dick Weber (dry). Any suggestions? Also any cover adjustments on the other bowling balls I have already in the bag?

I also use a Lane1 Bullet, drilled pin over finger and I plan to use this as well on the upcomming regional.

Current cover stock conditions:
Ntense - sanded (1000)
LevRG Response - sanded (4000)
Awesome Hook - sanded (500)
Lane1 Bullett - sanded (4000)

Thanks!

Your only personal stat that's missing is your initial rev rate.

For the Awesome Finish, drill it: 75 / 3 /30 with a P3 hole sanded 4000 with a little Brunswick Rough Buff on it. That will fill the bill for the Regional.

If your going to replace some of that equipment, replace the Awesome Finish with a FRENZY; the Response with a Craze; the Awesome Hook with a mania; keep the 'Ntense forever.

Thanks for the advice, my rev rate is 350. I will work on replacements. You have suggested drillings for the Mania, Frenzy, and Craze?

Should I keep the covers on the other balls the same for the regional?

Yes, sir! You can always scuff during practice, if you need more surface.

Hmm...that caught my attention. Mo, do you feel the ball reaction of the 'Ntense is that unique?

It is the fastest revving ball I've ever seen. High diff. ratio and max. total diff. with a medium cover. Great for low track players and for everyone but super high track players on carry down.

So what would be good for high track, high speed players with carry down then? (thinking of national shot when they carry down)
Everyones Best ball should be their spare ball.

Mania, MoJave , LevRG Response, 'Nsane, Sahara, Special Edition Spare ball, Frenzy.

Its interesting that you say this about carry down. I have had great success with my Ntense and carry down, even though I am a high track player?

The mania will cover more boards and transition later because it is a core/cover matched ball where the 'NTense is core dominant. They will compliment each other nicely.
