layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
I will be drilling A Quantum Evo solid and pearl. My favorite layout is 40/4.5/65 which I am going to use on the solid. My is will this layout on the Pearl be effective when THS breaks down?

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
I would not use the same layout on both balls.
The Pearl has a Much Stronger core than the solid.
I recommend 55-5-55 for the Pearl. DOT on the Bridge.
I think I am going to be a Big fan of the DOT. You may be as well. No adjustments needed for any layout you want.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
Yes, my recommendation was to complement your idea for the Solid.
Taking into consideration the factory surfaces as well as core differences.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
Will the 55/5/55 make the turn to give the entry angle I will need when THS breaks down and have to jump in?

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
The dot technology is a great idea. Many times I have changed layout to get the pin away from fingers. I have also had many balls crak over the years.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
Yes, it is more of a Long and Strong layout as compared to your Control layout idea with the Solid.
Both of which are layouts I recommend for for the THS.

Trying to keep your layout recommendations in one thread here.
Your Sweetspot: 100* Totals and 1:1.25 Ratio. Benchmark 45-4.5-55
You went with 40-4.5-65 on the 3D Offset.
Defender ................. 55-5-65
Innovator ................. 65-4.5-55

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
Thank you for your suggestions..I find it interesting that you went with 120 total numbers. I am curious why. Is it because of these particular balls?

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
Because you wanted them for THS conditions.
My recommendations for House shots almost always go to the Long and Strong, Control and low flare layouts.
Also I stay away from recommending Asymmetrical low flare layouts for bowlers with High Tilt.
While the Benchmark is a good layout it is usually too strong for anything other than a fresh house condition.
Once the line breaks down what do you have?
I would suggest playing the Defender with a little bit of surface (2000/3000 grit) for the fresh.
Transitioning to the Shiny Long and Strong Innovator once the lanes open up.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
I admit I'm a little nervous about the total numbers at 120. Mo always had me as speed dominant and at 80 to 85. But that was a few years back when I was competitive on the Sr tour. I'm not that bowler anymore at 75 years young.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
My recommendation is not a Benchmark.
Mo's recommendations were about finding your sweetspot, your Benchmark. When you had more speed in your game.
With today's conditions and ball strengths the Benchmark is is quite often too strong.
The Basic arsenal is comprised of a usable Range above and below the Benchmark.Totals +/- 20* and Ratio +/- .5
My recommendations are to let you relax and roll the ball vs. trying to throw it as hard as you can.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
I have to admit I from time to time I feel like I need to throw the ball harder. Spee was natural for me in the past not so much now.

Re: layout advice lower ball speed high tilt
I also believe I have more ball speed than most 75 yr olds.
