Transition Ball and Layout

Post by deanchamp »

Hi everyone, as a follow up to the Fresh Oil ball and Layout post, I'm interested in what would be the next ball and layout that is used once the lanes start to transition.

Same scenarios: Sports patterns and THS. Assume a medium length sports pattern in the range of 38' to 42'.

What ball are you going to choose based on being speed dominant, matched or rev dominant?

What surface and layout would you put on that ball? Why?

Thanks.

Something cover dominant to smooth it out.
Layout depends on the bowler, lane surface and condition being bowled on.

Me? My Method Solid seems to cure all that ails me in this scenario.
80 x 4 x 80 with Grey Scotch Brite surface.
A magic ball for me.

I'm currently using a Hammer Fugitive for this, at 90 x 2.5" x 25 with green scotch brite cover. Seems to work, but I don't bowl my best with it.

low flare .............. 80-2.5-45 .......... Brunswick Quantum EVO Pearl factory shine
This is new to my arsenal and a surface change is in order.
I'm thinking a 3000 grit matte finish will be my first adjustment.
The factory shine is a bit unpredictable at the breakpoint.
