Axis rotation and tilt
Can someone confirm my a/t and a/r from this shot. My guess is +/- 5* axis tilt and +/- 70* axis rotate, maybe more.

Re: Axis rotation and tilt
Needs to be from behind and lower to the ground, check the Wiki for the how to. But looks like 90 rotation and very low tilt

Re: Axis rotation and tilt
Camera is still to high and not focused down the starting line.
Tilt is best measured from the first oil ring.
http://wiki.bowlingchat.net/wiki/index. ... =Axis_tilt
I see it as high rotation and low tilt.
While it is nice to know the exact numbers, this combination makes life more difficult for bowlers that are in this category.

Eric,
I generated an image by flipping the bowling ball to fit my right-handed overlay ... this is just an example based on what was supplied.

Thank you
I will have to go and do the more correct camera work.
Was the overlay was done on a pc workstation and not a mobile device?

I hope this is adequate for this discussion. All other images are crappy resolution.

Re: Axis rotation and tilt
The Camera angle is very good on this one. Seeing the pins on the same plane in the background is what I like to see. Good Job!
75* Rotation and 5* Tilt
You could get a little more accurate with the Tilt measurement using the 1st oil ring to measure.
I would feel confident that these numbers are where you are at with Tilt and Rotation and quite usable for determining layouts.

Re: Axis rotation and tilt
Is there a material difference in from a 5 to a 7 degrees of tilt for layout purpose?
I had about a year+ ago requested layouts and I stated a 40-60 degree axis rotation. With a 75* rotation how does this change those recommendations? Thoses stats were 5.375x1.375 up; 250-275 revs; 7* at and 40-60 ar @ 17 mph off hand. Does the extra axis rotation change those layouts significantly.

Re: Axis rotation and tilt
Short answer NO.
The higher rotation is helping to get more length but it makes the break more angular.
It is somewhat a substitute for a lack of speed in an attempt to get the ball further down the lane before it hooks.
More speed or more tilt would make for better adjustment if it can be achieved.

Re: Axis rotation and tilt
I have plenty of speed, maybe too much for my revs. My natural off hand speed is more like 18-19 mph. More often then not, I lack reaction on the backend-ball not quite finishing or allowed to hook. I been really trying to slow my speed down to allow ball to hook. It is abeautiful thing when it happens. Currently using mostly symmetric solids to bowl as there are no PBA patterns laid out. A work in progress.
Thanks for your help!
