Post by russelldean »

Hi guys,
Should the Val on an inverted track parallel the track, as opposed to the grip line?

Inverted Track, we are talking about a PAP location that has a down component to it, the track is closer to the fingers and further away from the thumb, correct?

VAL is always parallel to the center of grip line and perpendicular to the midline.

Hi Russell - as Mav said, the VAL is always parallel - but to expand a tiny bit, the VAL is always parallel to the grip line and perpendicular to the midline at the point where it would intersect the bowler's PAP because that's its definition.

and, as an aside, parallel on a sphere is a funny concept! :) Non-Euclidean geometry always makes my head implode.

Is that because it’s just used for reference? Seems a pin with an x Val angle would migrate quite differently
