Layout advice for Brunswick Jagged Edge Solid

Post by Maine Man »

I’m looking for layout advice for my Brunswick Jagged Edge Solid. I want it to be a little earlier and stronger than my Closer which is drilled 75 x 3.75” x 25. I had thought about going 3.5” x 35 or even 3” x 40. Thoughts? Also, if you want to give me a few options I’m open to that too. Thanks in advance.

My current stats:

Left Handed
Speed: 16.5-17.0
RPM: 330-335
Tilt: 20°
AR: 70°

My god. Why would you want stronger than The Closer with that layout? The closer is so strong.
I dont think its possible with the Jagged Edge Solid.
I really question the rev rate number with some of the videos I've seen of you bowling.
It may be time to work on the release if you desire stronger ball motion.
Relax from the top to the release to lower that tilt and roll the ball more.

Mav, rev rate is accurate, done by two different sources over the last three months and within 10 RPM of each other so that’s where it is right now. Really just looking for it to pick up a little quicker, it won’t be more overall hook than The Closer, obviously, but I’m looking for a different shape mostly. I may not drill it, just keeping options open. Sport league has been good, varying patterns but averaging 210 on that right now. Feel good about where I’m at, always looking to be a little cleaner and softer at the bottom. What would be your suggestion for a layout, if any? Thanks.

I ended up drilling the Jagged Edge Solid yesterday. I went (50) x 3" x 25*. It was a perfect, earlier rolling compliment to The Closer ((70) x 3.75" x 25*). Flares up nicely and still has a fairly defined snap at the break point. Overall hook was about 1-2 boards less, very negligible, but I was able to go to this ball once The Closer saw a little carry-down, move in 2-2 and stay in the pocket. On Seoul last night I was 221, 226 with The Closer and switched to the Jagged edge Solid and went 227 the last game. I may scuff the cover a bit to get it to face up quicker on the heavier volume patterns we have coming up soon.
