Post by poloidrogo »

Hi I just got this ball and Im ready to put some holes on it, I used Vsl storm system to lay out this ball and it show to drill 22 x 4 1/2 × 39 dual angle layout

My pap 4.5 over 1/2 up
Speed 15 mhp
Tilt =average
Off the side
Im looking for long and some rasonable back end
What do you guys think ??

It would be helpful if you can give some more information about your release specs.
Speed, Tilt, Rotation, Revs and perhaps even the type of pattern you play mostly.

Based on those numbers it's possible to give a more accurate layout

My stats are similar to yours and I like my urethanes with VAL angles from 55-65, angles in that range are smooth for me. Drilling angle will be to your thumb hole so put the cg wherever you think looks good. Pin to PAP from 4-5”, 4 will give you some flare and 5 almost no flare as the core is a weak core.

X x 5 x 60 is good for your Purple, it’s a great ball

I would have proposed 80 x 3.5" x 50. But don't pin yourself to my suggestion. I'm just starting digging deeper into drilling and layouts.

Is my suggestion wrong or can this work too?

From 50 to 60 there’s not really much difference, they’re both smooth rolling longer transition VALs. a 3.5” Pin to PAP will have more flare than my 5” suggestion. One of the cool things about urethane that many do not like is that you will carry down oil to the breakpoint, the less flare you have the more effective this will be, if you know how to take advantage of this you can create hold and your move will be outside. Then off course this will be for a house shot so it doesn’t matter much, 3.5” should be stronger... in these type of balls changes in surface will be much more important.

It's urethane, I woudln't worry too much about it. It's going to hook early and roll so long as you keep the surface fresh on it.

I Really appreciate guys you to take the time and answered my question. I will try 40 x 4 1/2 x 50
and see what happen, I want some flare in the ball and going to try with 4 1/2 to pin to pap
I have some balls with 3.5 distance to pap and work good for my but. I want to try something different this time I guess.

Thanks much for your advice, really appreciated.
