New ball..Not sure I like it

Post by forhuskers » March 22nd, 2019, 2:55 am

Speed-14 at the pins
Revs-250
Axis Rotation not sure
Axis Tilt-18 deg
Bowl primarily on wood
Bowl on 41' House shot most of the time--occasional tournaments
I think I'm more rev dominate
PAP--5-1/8 x 7/8 up Right handed

Got a new 15 lb. Radical Ludicrous. 1000 w/compound. I wanted a ball I could use to play inside when required. Ludicrous has a sharp back end. It was drilled 55 x 5 x 15. I haven't been able to bowl for squat with it. Most of the time it over reacts. I don't know if it is the wood lanes or the oil quantity but it feels like it reacts different every time I throw it. I have a Black Widow Legend drilled 70 x 4-3/8 x 30 and a Hustle Ink drilled 40 x 3-1/2 x 30 both of which I like. Any suggestions on a good layout for me? Thank you in advance for any help.

55 x 5 x 15
70* totals, 3.67:1 Ratio
I can safely say I have never recommended such a high Ratio for anyone.

Are you planning on re-drilling the Ludicrous?

I always start with finding the Benchmark and working from there.
You are actually very close to Matched speed to revs. Knowing how much rotation would make this easier and more accurate. Otherwise I have to assume you are either low, medium or high rotation and go through this exercise 3 times.

I guess I would say I have a high rotation. I can change hand positions, but my standard release is more off the side a little north of 45 deg. Does that help any?

High rotation is above 60*.
I will figure this on medium rotation being the fact you can vary your rotation.
Sweetspot 90* Totals, 1.25:1 Ratio

Asymmetrical Layouts
Totally Strong .......... 45-5-25
Midlane ................... 30-4.5-40
Benchmark .............. 50-4-40
Long and Strong ....... 70-4-40
Control ................... 50-3.5-60
low flare ................. 70-2.25-40

Symmetrical Layouts
Benchmark ............. xx-4-35
Control .................. xx-4.5-55 pin in the ring finger
low flare ................ xx-5-35
