New layout needed!

Post by purpledogcreek »

My game has changed. I went to 14lb bowling ball because of knee injury, but boy did my ball speed go up. I also changed my drillings along the lines of the CLT and 45* method and I cannot believe how clean i'm coming out of the ball. It seems like i'm not getting the midlane read I was with the heavier ball, definitely going past the break. Anyway, I have three new balls and would appreciate your recommended layouts for these:

Brunswick Quantum Forest Green (solid)
Storm Drive (hybrid)
Storm Marvel (pearl)

My new stats:
Stroker, Lefty, 200 average
(synthetic lanes THS 42')
17.5-18.1 mph (monitor)
280 rev rate
17* tilt
60-70 axis rotation
5 1/2" over 6/8" up PAP

Thanks.

I always start with figuring the Benchmark and then work from there.
Speed dominant lefty
70* totals 1:1.25 Ratio. Asymmetrical Benchmark ............ 30-4.25-40

Brunswick Quantum Forest Green (solid) ........................ xx-4-35
Storm Drive (hybrid) ................................................... xx-4.5-55
Storm Marvel (pearl) ................................................... xx-5-35

Dull surface is going to be your friend to get the ball to read the lane.
3 Symmetrical balls, I would be thinking about adding an Asymmetrical piece.

I'm going to follow thru with your advise on getting an Asymmetrical ball. I'm considering the
Storm Sure Lock or Code X. What are your thoughts on these two, or do you have a different recommendation to consider.
Thanks.

Will it be to replace one of your choices or are you considering a 4th ball.
It would affect my choice of layout.

Have you purchased any balls yet?

Yes, I already bought the 3 balls that you gave recommendations for. this will be for a 4th ball.
I punched the Quantum yesterday and layed out the Drive this evening. probably will drill it tomorrow.
Sorry to just now respond, got caught up in the shopping frenzy.
Thanks Eric.

I was wondering about the pin distance on the Drive. I've been reading a lot of mixed views on this ball, especially the slow response to friction. with my lower revs and higher speed I was wondering if I shouldn't go with a shorter pin distance (maybe 3.5"). I fully trust your recommendations, it's the ball I'm starting to doubt based on reviews. What's your thoughts.
Thanks

The Sure Lock has a Stronger core at 14# and will help make it stronger/earlier than the Green Quantum. I would go with your Benchmark 30-4.25-40 on the Sure lock.
