Hi, Bill Sempsrott from BTM has created a new rotation and tilt overlay, which he has given permission to share. It looks great, can be used for right and left handers, and also includes positive and negative tilt.

Please find attached.

I have seen one bowler with more negative tilt than 20* so I know they are out there.
Wondering why the scale was left incomplete on the negative side?

I think if somone has more than negative twenty degrees of tilt they should be working on their release as a priority!

More (less?) than -20 degrees of tilt is extreme. Unless you're considering a backup release...

I've only worked with two bowlers anywhere close to that. Mo calls them "over-rolled full-rollers".

So I normally mark the PAP, then slo-mo video a shot and eyeball the sis rotation. How can I utilize the overlay?

You need to use a video editing program, where you can place the overlay in a video layer above the footage, and then zoom in on the ball until they match. I use Sony Vegas. You also need to make sure you are videoing directly behind the launch angle of the ball.

The attached example has 40 degrees of rotation. I always measure tilt using the first oil ring on the ball and not the overaly.

How do you measure the tilt using the first oil ring exactly?
