So i have a customer that gives me fits when it comes to layouts.
60 year old female.
180 average but she is better than her average. Just needs help getting the ball to carry.
Specs:
14 mph off hand
250 rpms
20* AT
40* AR
Currently she is throwing a Track Logix. This piece gives her a good look until the track burns up. Once she has to move in she can’t get the ball to hit. We’ve tried drilling her weaker covered, higher RG pieces on the past and it’s been unsuccessful. Because, IMO, she is slightly rev dominant the higher he pieces still force her into the puddle and makes the over/under worse.
I advised we go with a stronger piece to help blend the over/under and still get the ball to hit down lane. I gave her a few options and she chose an Intense Fire. I’ve been chewing on this for a few days.
I think we should go 70 x 3.25 x 35. I think this gives the right mix of length and backend pop. In the past, when we’ve gone less than 35 VAL Angle the ball lacks continuation.
I’d appreciate some suggestions if I’m on the proper track here.

Re: Layout advice
Sounds like you're on the right track to me. 20* tilt with low rotation and slight rev dominance would put her in the 1.5:1 benchmark range. For long and strong I'd adjust that to 2:1, which is where you have her. With 20* of tilt I might go a little longer on the pin to pap, but I think you're in the ballpark with 3.25". I'd probably go with 4" if I were drilling it.fufu wrote:So i have a customer that gives me fits when it comes to layouts.

Since she struggles with over/under and lacking continuation another way to approach it might be to go with a medium cover symmetrical ball with a continuous layout. Something like an Intel with a pin down drilling. Adjust the surface as necessary to get the ball started up where needed.
Too bad you can't use motion holes anymore.

I was going off memory and I was wrong.
I pulled her drill sheet and it’s 17* Tilt and 60* Axis rotation.
Now I want to tweak that pin placement to 4”. Otherwise I think the layout is very close

Re: Layout advice
Thanks for the reply. I doubled checked her specs and came up with 17* tilt and 60* AR.Arkansas wrote:

So I think a 4” pin is the right move.

Also, we have tried val angles in the 60-70 range and they flat don’t hit for her.Arkansas wrote:

Did you try an Asym with a 5-5 1/2" pin to PAP?fufu wrote:

Re: Layout advice
We've tried val angles in the 60* range on both sym/asym equipment with varied mb locations. Medium covers, high rg/low rg...but never a semi strong cover like I forsee with the IF.EricHartwell wrote: Did you try an Asym with a 5-5 1/2" pin to PAP?

Did you adjust the surfaces to get the balls to start up in time to finish hooking?fufu wrote:
