Bowler Stats
Speed 17.5
Rev Rate 380
Axis Tilt 18
Rotation 55-60
I see the benchmark ratio at 1:1 or 1:1.25
How much should I adjust the ratios from there when laying out equipment, specifically if I am looking to shorten the hook phase?

Bowlers ID is the average speed. I use +2 mph for off the hand.rusty85207 wrote:Bowlers ID off of my hand.
Benchmark Total 90* 1:1 Ratio
Asymmetrical Benchmark ....... 45-4-45
Symmetrical Benchmark .........50-4-40 balance hole 1.5" below midline on the VAL
Adjusting the Ratio For the Basic Arsenal +/-.5 on the Ratio
Adjust your ratio up for sharper break point ..... 1.5:1
Adjust your Ratio down for smoother motion .... 1:1.5
Adjust the Totals lower -20* for earlier roll .... 70*
Adjust the Totals higher +20*for later roll ..... 110*
Your Basic Asymmetrical arsenal layouts look like this...
Totally Strong ....... 40-4.5-30
Midlane ................ 30-4.5-40
Benchmark ........... 45-4-45
Long and Strong .... 65-4-45
Control ................. 45-4-65
low flare .............. 65-2.5-45

Re: Benchmark Ratio and Layout Advice
Eric, since my til is a bit above"normal" should I go with longer pin to pap on asymmetrical balls to burn off the tilt a bit faster? Say somewhere in the 5-6" range. Thanks for your input.

With high flare PIN-PAP distance (other variables remain the same) , should we expect the distance between the track rings are wider which as a result the ball will pick up sooner and migrate faster, vice versa for low flare PIN-PAP distance?

Re: Benchmark Ratio and Layout Advice
Your Tilt is normal and no need in the Basic arsenal for such a forward rolling pin position.rusty85207 wrote:Eric, since my til is a bit above"normal" should I go with longer pin to pap on asymmetrical balls to burn off the tilt a bit faster? Say somewhere in the 5-6" range. Thanks for your input.
If you had 25*+ of tilt then you would see Pin to PAP's greater than 5" in the basic arsenal. At that point you would also have no need for the low flare layout.

Re: Benchmark Ratio and Layout Advice
Eric, I have laid out a couple assyms with the numbers you suggested and have Ben very happy with the results. I have also drilled a sym with the benchmark layout, but how do I adjust the layouts on symmetrical balls for an Arsenal like you have done with the assym layouts?

For the Symmetrical Layouts you Add 5* to the Drilling Angle and Subtract 5* from the VAL angle.EricHartwell wrote:Your Basic Asymmetrical arsenal layouts look like this...

low flare .............. 65-2.5-45
Then you adjust the pin to PAP distances.
Symmetrical arsenal layouts
Totally Strong ....... Double Thumb layout
Midlane ................ 35-3.5-35 bal hole 1.5" below midline on the VAL
Benchmark ........... 50-4-40 P3

Control ................. 50-4.5-60 bal hole 2" below midline on the VAL
low flare .............. 70-5-40
