Greetings all:
The majority of my current arsenal consists of sym. and asym. balls of different characteristics drilled with my benchmark layout and different surface preps (for simplicity) to get different reactions. With my struggles of last year continuing this year in one league, I decided to experiment with a control layout on a weak smooth continuous sym. ball (Motiv Sigma Hybrid) and it seems to be working.
I would like to take this experiment further and try the other layouts also and have studied the wiki and done some math. Mo gave me the following: Sweetspot: 85 degrees +/- 20 degrees, Benchmark: 45 x 4 x 40. I have calculated the following asym. layouts: Control - 35 x 4 x 70, Long and Strong - 63 x 4 x 42, Mid lane - 22 x 4 x 43, and Totally Strong - 39 x 4 x 26 [Mo's max hooking asym. layout was 40 x 3.75 x 25]. Am I close on the angles? Should the pin to PAP length be adjusted? What reaction is the mid lane designed to provide?
How do I calculate sym. layouts? Should I add 5 degrees/subtract 5 degrees to the asym. layouts above or start with my sym. benchmark of 50 x 4 x 35 and calculate the layouts like I did above (ie 50 x 4 x 55 for Control)? Does the drilling angle even matter? How do I adjust the pin to PAP length?
Kevin
