Looking for sweet spot.

Hello all, been wondering this for a long time and finally am getting around to asking.

My info:

Right Handed
Between 16-17 MPH on the monitor depending on variables.
Rev Rate: 400-420
Initial Axis Rotation - 60 degrees.
Initial Axis Tilt - 10 degrees.
What surface you want the ball for (wood or synthetic) - I'd like one of each if possible.
What lane condition you are bowling on most of the time - Latest house shot, "Brunswick Crown Jewel".
Do you think you are speed or revolutions dominant? I'd say I'm pretty balanced.
My PAP is 3 5/8 over, 1 1/4 up.

I struggle greatly with drier conditions, especially in the front.

Welcome to BowlingChat

Speed to9 revs you are matched, but your low tilt is actually making you reev dominant.
Asymmetrical Benchmark 105* total, 2:1 Ratio 70-3.75-35
Asymmetrical layouts
Low Flare...... 90-2.25-35
Control ....... 75-3-50

Symmetrical layouts
Low Flare ...... 70-5-30
Control ........ Pin in the ring finger.

Very interesting. Would have never guessed the shorter pin to PAP distances.

I have an issue with continuation through the pins...will these layouts address that?

The shorter pin to PAP is for Asymmetrical balls with a marked PSA (mass bias).

The shorter pin to PAP on Asyms burns tilt and rotation slower and take longer to roll. Long pin to PAP on an Asym is quite the opposite burning tilt and rotation at a faster pace getting the ball into a roll sooner.

The general rule for low tilt bowlers is longer pin to PAP on Symmetrical, Shorter pin to PAP on Asymmetricals.

Yes, the layouts I recommended will help with continuation.

These layouts should help. I'm very fond of the symmetric low flare and control (pin in ring finger). I still haven't warmed up to the short pin asym, but need to revisit that at some point. I know they are working well for teammates.

The other thing to consider (or course) is surface. What type of cover stocks are you throwing and how much surface? I'm currently bowling in a high friction house (short oil, low volume, high lineage) and really need to polish everything.

Super clean covers and balls with natural length have been the solution this summer, along with deeper angles and a bit of loft. Very different from what I was used to.

Brunswick Magnitude 035. More continuation, less deflection.

just curious. wouldn't the sweet spot differ depending on where and what you bowl on surface-wise? I must re-do all my specs. too bad I don't have access to a ball sensor...

maybe a practice session at Kegel is in order.
