Finding layouts from pics and PAP

Post by PinChurch »

Hello!

I'm asking you if it is possible to find the layouts on my arsenal with help of my specs and pictures of the balls?

I suppose to have a PAP 4 5/8 right 3/4up:

My Radical Fix should have a drilled layout of Sym D 80x3 3/4x80
Can I check if my PAP is correct through invers engineering the layout from the angles?

I want to see what my layout is on
Radical Xeno
Track Paradox
Track Tour Sic
Brunswick Soul

Can you help me do that?
Thank you!

Edit: I got help from Arkanas. If anyone want te biew the pictures again, i can send i up again.

If you have a prosect it's easy to draw the angles back to your PAP and determine the layouts. If not, if you have a quarter scale you can at least get your Pin-to-PAP and a good estimate of the angles. Just looking at the layout on the Fix it looks like should be close to your 80 x 3 3/4 x 80.

You check your PAP by marking it with tape and throwing the ball while recording a shot or have someone watch the shot and see if the tape is stable for the first few feet on the lane.

Okey, tanks Arkanas.

I enjoyed my self to lay out the dual angles on a sheet of paper, but that wasnt too accurate (from the picuters, not from the balls).

I got:
Paradox 40x4 9/16x80 (a bit strange for what I'm using that ball for)
Xeno 70x4 15/16 x 70 (Benchmark?)
Tour Sic 30x 4 15/16x 70 (strange layout and wrong method)

There's no way the Xeno and Tour Sic have 70* VAL angles and the Paradox 80*. More likely it's 40* on the Xeno and Sic and 80* on the Paradox.

I think EricHartwell or someone else on here has an Excel program that can approximate layouts pretty close given your spans and PAP. You might want to PM him and see what he comes up with.

Is you goal to verify your PAP or your layouts? Can you just take them to your local pro shop?

I can take them to my pro shop. I wanted to see if I could second guess the layouts.
I'm trying to understand what the balls do in theory, 'cause they are behaving quite close to each other.

So it is impossible to see the layouts only with the pictures (and the stats I have)?

A photo is a 2D representation of a 3D object, depending on just how the camera is lined up. Holes, angles, distances etc. will look distorted slightly.

The best you can do looking at photo is just make a guess as to what a layout might be.

I also wrote a little utility to help visualize this kind of stuff.

https://github.com/stevespo/openjscad-dual-angle" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Save the .jscad script. Open the browser to the openjscad.org site, drag and drop the script. Plug in your numbers. It will give you a quick look at what the layout should be and you can then compare that with your actual equipment. Trial and error to dial it in.

Paradox 40 x 4 9/16 x 80 with your PAP.
