To start, I was given these numbers recently...

"I would Benchmark you at 100* totals and 1.8:1 Ratio

Asymmetrical layouts
Totally Strong .............. 55-4-25
Midlane ...................... 45-4-35
Benchmark ................. 65-3.75-35 ( 3.75 x 5.375 x 2 )
Long and Strong .......... 85-3.75-35
Control ...................... 65-3.75-55
Low flare ................... 85-2.25-35

Symmetrical layouts
Totally Strong .............. Double thumb
Midlane ...................... 50-4-30
Benchmark ................. 70-4.25-30 ( 3.75 x 4 x 2 )
Long and Strong .......... Pin above ring finger Motion Hole
Control ...................... Pin in the Ring finger
Low flare ................... 75-5-30 (your layout is approx. 75-5.25-35)"

Most of my equipment are drilled either with a 5 x 5 pin up and 4x4x2 w/ or w/o P3 hole.

I recently experienced over/under front to back, dry heads and flying backends, no hold. oob outside or very little hook... I put myself at a disadvantage by not expanding my equipment/layouts. I bowl at one house and my current balls/layouts are all I need. well, not on sport pr longer cleaner THS...... please advice for I'll be bowling at a new (old) house with flying backend, no hold, and more volume.

From what i was given above, low flare and control layouts are bit confusing. not sure where to go with these. Thanks

Also, my revrate was checked recently, 355 on average and not under 350. not sure if this will affect the numbers above. Thanks again.

My specs are as follows...

axis T/R: <11* and 45-60*
Speed: 16.5 mph
RPM's: 355 rpm
PAP: 5 1/8 3/4^

I was advised to get a smooth rolling ball with a low pin layout or pin closer to pap layout. My concern is, even with low 4x4x2 layouts, I clip my thumb. I had a Storm Frantic? (i don't remember, green/reddish ball?) with pin under ring. I loved the roll it gave me, but it flared over the thumb.

I use an IT and I don't want the risk of damage.

Thanks for the help!

As long as your specs are accurate I do not see any issues with the above layouts and flaring over the thumb.

What are you finding confusing? They will have a slower response to friction making them ideal candidates for your over/under conditions.
