Skid Flip Layout needed? I have found that on a few occasions I need a Skid Flip look and do not have that ball/layout in my arsenal. I prefer to play straighter (12-8) but when the lanes open up and need to swing it (15-6) the equipment I have stops hooking too soon.
What I have with the layouts and surfaces:
P3 hole size 7/8 2" Deep
Revolver: 15*-4 3/4-30* P3 (3 inches deep) 1000 Abralon (Heavy Oil)
Evil Siege: 40*-4 1/4-25* P3 2000 Abralon (Heavy-Medium Oil)
Ebonite Mission: 50*-5 1/4-65* P3 4000 Abralon (benchmark ball, 1st out of the bag)
900 Global Favorite: 50*-2 1/4 -65* P3 2000 Abralon (great for after Mission)
Black Widow Pearl: 50*-5 1/4-65* P3 4000 Abralon + Polish (go to ball when want to move out and up the boards)
Wild Thing: 75*-3-45* P3 4000 Abralon + Polish (don't use much except for tournaments)
Brunswick Zone (Cosmic): Spare Ball
Right Handed
Speed (at the foul line): 17.5-18 mph
Initial Axis Rotation: 45 degrees
What lane condition you are bowling on most of the time: All conditions
Do you think you are speed or revolutions dominate? Speed dominates over revolutions
PAP is 2 19/32 Right and 3/32 down
Axis Tilt 9.5 which is 30 Degrees
If any other suggestions please provide.
Thanks again,
Shawn Wood

Re: Skid Flip Layout Needed?????
I don't believe you are reading your reaction correctly. I've run into this before. Lots of people read a reaction where the ball starts hooking and then labors on the back end as the ball is burning up. It's not! The ball is laboring. With your delivery specs, I have to believe that is what is happening to you unless there is virtually no oil on the lanes on which you are bowling. You are speed dominant with lots of tilt. That style rarely produces a ball reaction where the ball transitions too fast. Can you post a video of one of the balls that you think is burning up? Where are you located?ASUWoody wrote:Skid Flip Layout needed? I have found that on a few occasions I need a Skid Flip look and do not have that ball/layout in my arsenal. Take one of the balls you think is burnung up and increase the surface. If it continues better, the ball was not burning up.

Re: Skid Flip Layout Needed?????
I have a customer with similar specs, his ball is a bullet with those kind of layouts you mentioned(large sums).

Re: Skid Flip Layout Needed?????
Thanks for the response Mo.....I will try to add more surface to the Mission to see if this helps its reaction. This week I tried to start further out with the Widow Pearl (4000+polish) until it started to make a turn then started sliding in the backend (so I see what you mean), then changed to the Mission (4000), which gave me a little better look but still labored some in the backend. Game 3 I changed hand position and balls to the Favorite (2000) and was able to get some loop and skid/flip out of it. Games bowled 245-217-262 for 724 so can't complain too much. But, still trying to find ways to improve.

I just got a new video camera and will try to get some video to post as well.
