Can you help me with a layout?

Post by phillee8096 »

Hi,

I am an older bowler with the following info:

Right Handed
15mph at the foul line
280 rpm
45 deg axis rotation
12 deg axis tilt
I think I am speed dominate.

I currently bowl on AMF HPL with Brunswick fanatic solid and pearl in what appears to be a RICO layout. Pap is 4.5 rt/0 up.

The equipment works fine on AMF HPL, but I recently bowled on wood lanes with lots more THS oil. I did slow down my ball speed, moved left to stay in the oil in order to throw into the very dry outside to compensate, but then the ball didn't have enough umph left at the pocket.

any help would be appreciated

Thanks! Phil

Welcome to BowlingChat

Your "Rico" layouts are far from optimum for you.
You are speed dominant but only slightly.

Sweetspot 90* Total, 1.5:1 Ratio.
Asymmetrical Benchmark 55-4-35
Symmetrical Benchmark xx-4-30

I would plug and re-drill the Pearl xx-4-30

Right Handed
PAP 4.75" up 1/2"
45* rotation
12* tilt
330 rev rate
16 mph off hand

Thanks for the layout help.

Since my pearl has already been plugged and redrilled twice, I was going to buy a new ball for the fall season. What ball would match up with me in the Radical line?

Thanks!

The counter attacks might be what you’re looking for.

I ended up getting a Radical Katana Legend using the asymmetric layout provided. This is exactly what I was looking for in my bowling motion.

Thanks for the layout!
