Has anyone used this method of holding the ball? Any sucess wth doing this?kajmk wrote:Reminder - If you've watched PBA bowling, you may have observed the following.
Notables who used this Mike Aulby, Marshall Holman.
Puffing a breath into the thumb-hole prior to inserting the thumb, makes the fit just a bit more secure.
This can add a moisture seal and just might be the tonic for some.
Isolate the ball placement via a drill to see if it's the ball placement per se. it coulod be induced by the direction of your setup and ball placement.
The point is to narrow down the list of suspects.
You have a symptom, not necessarily the cause.
Bill Hall pointed out that "Setting the swing to the outside of the body in the setup can result in a chain reaction of tension starting with the shoulder, among which is excessive and incorrect grip pressure."
Bill Hall again - Evaluate how you are applying the grip pressure. The key is to learn how to apply pressure.

"As you apply pressure in this direction, the thumb straightens out.
It automatically presses the base of the thumb up against the front edge of the thumbhole. This is what you want to happen"
